Grr to Easycar, and the fact that we had to pick up our rental car from the middle of nowhere, but we figured it out and set out east from Perpignan along the south coast of France. First stop was Montpellier, not that we knew anything about it, just because it was time for a stretch. But it was well worth a look, from our short stroll it looks like a very beautiful place.
Back on the road, and getting a little more confident with driving on the right hand side, we made it to Avignon. Popes in the 14th century resided here, and it has a huge palace (well it looks huge from the outside anyway), walls, and a feeling that maybe it deserved more of our time.
But rest we could not, given we still had to find our hotel in Aix-on-Provence. Parking up for the night we just had time for a wander there too.
